We might review a floor plan, compare finishes, work through a furniture layout, or help you find a clearer direction for a room. You’ll receive personalized guidance you can use to move forward with more confidence.

A session is a good fit when you have a defined question or a few decisions you’re struggling to make. If you want someone to develop the entire design, source furnishings, or stay involved as a renovation unfolds, an ongoing design partnership will likely serve you better.

We’ll focus on your highest-priority questions. Paint and materials, room layouts, lighting, furnishings, and renovation decisions are all possible topics. A focused agenda makes the hour more useful than trying to redesign an entire home at once.

Yes, a little. Before we meet, share the questions you want to address and any relevant photos, plans, dimensions, samples, or inspiration. The more clearly I can see the space and the decisions you’re facing, the more specific our conversation can be.

The session is for professional perspective and direction, rather than a complete design plan. We can work through options and discuss next steps, but drawings, sourcing, and ongoing project support are separate services.

JW Design works on renovations and furnishing projects that benefit from a cohesive vision and continued design involvement. That can include kitchens, bathrooms, additions, whole-home renovations, and multi-room furnishings. We take on a limited number of these projects at a time so each receives the attention it needs.

As early as possible! Ideally before plans and major selections are finalized. Early involvement allows the layout, materials, lighting, cabinetry, and furnishings to be considered together rather than solved one decision at a time. If your project is already underway, get in touch and we can discuss whether there’s a useful role for us at its current stage.

We focus on the interiors and the way the home will function and feel day to day. Depending on the project, our work may include space planning, interior details, selections, drawings, and support during construction. We collaborate with architects, builders, and trades so the design is clearly communicated as it moves toward completion.

JW Design bills hourly for all design-related tasks, and separate furnishing budgets are based on the scope of the design. Fees for renovation and furnishing projects are based on the scope of design work and level of involvement required. After learning more about your project, we can discuss the appropriate service and how it would be structured.

JW Design is based in the Des Moines metro and considers select projects elsewhere in the country. For larger projects, the right fit depends on the scope, timeline, and practical needs of working together across locations.
